HISTORY

Piagetian Guided Educational Center started with a humble beginning in 1983. It was established by a young, fresh, college graduate driven by a vision to create an environment full of learning and fun for young learners. She envisioned of a place that children will enjoy and look forward to going every morning, and where they will grow up with happy school memories.

PHILOSOPHY

PG's main objective is to develop the fullest potential of a child at the most critical and formative years of his life. It is our belief that a child is a unique individual who perceives, understands, and interprets the world differently from the adult perspective.

We aim to develop the child as a thinker – to be independent, alert and curious, to have confidence in his abilities, and to be able to figure things out for himself.

We encourage the child to be compassionate and smart individuals, capable of communicating effectively with others.

We regularly design innovative, hands-on, experiential activities to enhance the existing skills of a child, as well as introduce what is yet to be discovered in the environment. Innovation, resourcefulness, and efficiency are fostered in daily activities.

We provide well-rounded academics by developing a positive attitude in learning within a child. This is made possible through thinking games and activities that are structured, yet creative and challenging.

We enhance the child's total personality and assertiveness through direct experiences with the environment. We see each child's potential and maximize it, creating a healthy self-image and self-esteem. We instil practical and achievable values in life to help the child develop decision making and effective judgment skills in order to grow with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment.

We guide the child to become Responsible, Respectful, and Refined individuals - sensitive and aware of their environment, possessing self-discipline and self-motivation, as they diligently accomplish any task.

We encourage the child to be actively aware of environmental and social concerns, to become responsible modern citizens of our nation. We introduce various cultures and customs to encourage and increase awareness of globalization and diversity.

We embrace the concept of Jean Piaget's, Theory of Intellectual Development, wherein he believes that a child thinks and understands differently at various stages of development. We connect to the child with this understanding.

Therefore, for us, a child is an important person.

APPROACH

PG uses a progressive approach in teaching. It provides activities suited to developing the child's mental processing. We integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) to go beyond traditional approaches and develop the child's skills and experiences. This Skill-based approach goes beyond academics and is pertinent to the K-12 Educational System as well as 21st Century demands. Alongside all lessons, it is PG's mission to make sure every child enjoys the process of learning.
